Journey to Beijing - A Personal Account

Written by Graham Hawker.
This is a personal account of my October 1994 trip to Beijing, illustrated with some of the photographs I took. I'm not a professional writer, nor a professional traveller, so you might find it a bit rough.
However, the trip was very good value and lots of fun, so I thought I would share it.
There are plenty of guide books to tell you about the place, so I have concentrated more on the journey and the things I learned from talking to the guides and my fellow travellers. Enjoy!
The trip was organized by Jules Verne Travel and we flew with Uzbekistan Airways. So on the 19th October 1994 we dound ourselves at Heathrow airport, at the check-in desk for a flight to Tashkent.
So this is where it all started
